On Sunday night, a shooting occurred, causing injuries to three individuals as confirmed by the Columbia Police Department.
The incident took place around 10:30 p.m. in downtown Columbia, specifically in the 1200 block of Washington Street, according to information provided by the police. This location is just one block away from Assembly Street and is situated two blocks from both Gervais Street and the South Carolina State House.
Police have stated that three males sustained injuries in the shooting, but these injuries were categorized as “non-life threatening.” Unfortunately, there are no additional details available regarding the ages of the victims or their current conditions.
Thankfully, no further injuries were reported in relation to the incident. Presently, there is no information regarding the identity of the shooter or shooters, nor any potential associates involved. A motive for the shooting has not been disclosed.
As of now, law enforcement has not made any arrests and their investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

In a separate incident, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating another shooting that took place in Columbia early Sunday morning.
At approximately 4 a.m., deputies responded to a shooting report in the 300 block of Rice Meadow Way, as stated by the sheriff’s department in an official news release. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident.
