Shoulda Woulda Oughta

The Word says in Jeremiah 8&20 - Harvest has ended, summer is past, and we are not yet saved.

A friend of mine called me one morning. He was absolutely elated. He had finished his hay for

the summer. He said, “I always like to go back over the field the next day and see it all done and swept

clean. All the bales picked up and in the barn.” I was blessed as he told me the old square bailer,

that I helped him get working last spring, tied all 168 bales and never missed one and the old mower

/conditioner, that I sold him this spring, had cut clean and made his work much easier this year. How

good it is to just praise God for the simple little things we get accomplished in this, our time. As we

reflect on the summer’s labors and the troubles and the trials of the season, let us, like my friend, come

before the Lord with praise and thanksgiving. In Psalm 119, David surveys the field and writes; The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handywork. As we survey the harvested fields of the season and consider the errors we might have made, David's prayers at the end of psalm 119 come into light. He prays, Who can understand his errors; cleanse me from my secret faults; Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me; Then I shall be blameless and innocent of great transgression; Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight O Lord, My strength and my redeemer. (Thank You Lord!!)
