Monroe County Commission Holds Public Ordinance Meeting
May 15, 2020 The Commission met pursuant to adjournment with Mike Minor, Presiding Commissioner and Associate Commissioners Mike Whelan and Ron Staggs present and among other proceedings the following orders were had to wit:
Commission approved previous minutes.
Commission amended 2020 budget for the COVID-19 Cares Grant for the Sheriff’s Department in reference to the salaries budgeted.
Commission held public hearing on a draft presented by the Monroe County Health Department on a county ordinance. Those in attendance were as follows: Presiding Commissioner-Mike Minor, Eastern Commissioner- Mike Whelan, Western Commissioner- Ron Staggs, Monroe County Health Director- Paula Delaney, Monroe County Clerk- Christina Buie, Monroe County Collector- Chrissy Graupman, Monroe County Treasurer- Sheila Jurgesmeyer, Monroe County Collector Deputy- Jackie Sutton, Sheriff David Hoffman, Chief Deputy Joe Colston, Lake Gazette Editor- Consetta Gottman, Monroe County Appeal Editor- Robin Gregg, Dean Buckman, Becky Vanlandingham, Janet Huffman, Jackie McNabb, Nancy Bierly, Anita Ness, Doug Burnett, Marilyn O’Bannon, Laura Long, Heather Dodd, Virgil Hulen, Jr., Twana Hulen, Tommy Wormington, 911 Director-Blair Joiner, 911 Assistant Director- Cory Putnam, and Sam Thomas. Discussion was held on the importance of issuing a county wide ordinance for the purpose of a public health pandemic. Concerns from citizens were addressed. No determination of implementing a county wide ordinance was finalized at this time.
Bonnie Norman appeared before the commission regarding Pleasant Hill Cemetary.
Commission inspected Paris City Bridge (BRO #45).
