During his high school years and until 1997 Raymond worked for Ren Potterfield Trucking. He later accepted a position with Martin Equipment, specializing in John Deere industrial machinery. Raymond later owned and operated Tri County Tire in Monroe City for five years. All the while Raymond was farming as well to support his family.
Currently Raymond was a full-time farmer. Raymond was an excellent farmer; he loved his cattle and was also a row crop farmer. He was known for his love of John Deere tractors and he loved to tinker, repair, and restore machinery and tractors, often working side by side with his sons on projects in their shop. Deer hunting, the NASCAR racing of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. and Civil War history were a few of Raymond’s favorites. A wonderful cook, Raymond made the best barbequed chicken, chili and stew for his family and friends. Life’s simple pleasures were most special to Raymond. He loved moments shared with family and friends on the family farm. He especially adored his grandchildren and always looked forward to the moments they shared together.
